Western Bureau County Food Pantry
The Western Bureau County Food Pantry serves needy families in the western part of the county, including the villages of Buda, Mineral, Neponset, and Sheffield. They assist over 80 households, representing more than 240 people, by providing food and basic necessities. The pantry is funded entirely by donations and grants and has seen an increased demand due to recent cutbacks in government support.
Organization:
Formed in 2009 by a coalition of local churches, the Western Bureau County Food Pantry is an independent corporation. It operates in Sheffield with facilities donated by Concord Township and is run by volunteers with one part-time paid staff member. The primary supporting churches include:
